Job Summary

The University of York is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our team in the field of indoor air quality monitoring. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of air pollution measurement equipment in our INTERIORS facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build custom sampling systems to enable measurement from different rooms in the houses and outside.
  • Develop calibration methodologies for various instruments and design a robust data logging system for long-term measurements.
  • Conduct initial testing and installation of equipment, including setup and operation of VOC measurement systems using grab sampling and Gas Chromatography techniques.
  • Operate instruments for other users of the facility, providing accurate data and measurements.

Requirements

  • First degree in physics, environmental science, or chemistry, and a PhD or equivalent experience in a related subject.
  • Experience in installation and operation of air pollution measurement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory procedures and health and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work, with attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality results.
