We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Attendance and Exclusions Officer to join our School Attendance, Exclusions & Community Education Team. The successful candidate will have a passion for improving school attendance and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by children, families, and schools.
This is a part-time position, covering a maternity leave for 12 months, and will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to work part-time in the Virtual School, supporting children with social workers and schools in Bury to improve attendance.
The team has developed a number of processes to help improve school attendance in accordance with the DfE Working Together to Improve School Attendance statutory guidance. We need someone who is highly motivated, organised, and able to work independently, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The role will require the successful candidate to travel around the borough and outside of Bury to visit cared-for children and children with social workers. The salary is Grade 10, £33,024 - £35,745, and normal working hours are 37 hours per week, all year round.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with social workers and schools in Bury to improve attendance
- Develop and implement processes to improve school attendance
- Work with the team to provide training and support to schools and families
- Travel around the borough and outside of Bury to visit cared-for children and children with social workers
Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly motivated and organised
- Ability to work independently
- Experience of working with children, families, and schools
What We Offer:
- A competitive salary of Grade 10, £33,024 - £35,745
