About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Visualization Specialist to join our team at The Telegraph. As a key member of our visual journalism department, you will be responsible for creating engaging and informative graphics that convey complex data and narratives to our audience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and illustrate graphic components such as charts, diagrams, maps, and graphics with clarity and precision.
  • Analyze and edit information to form compelling visual narratives, combining good typography and design principles to create engaging information graphics and data visualizations.
  • Contribute ideas and creative input into the production of visual journalism at The Telegraph, collaborating with journalists, researchers, editors, designers, and developers from across the newsroom.
  • Establish greater consistency by helping to develop better work methods and processes.
  • Output work for both The Telegraph's print and digital platforms.
Key Skills
  • Proven ability in producing compelling and creative visual journalism.
  • A portfolio that displays attributes such as data visualization, graphic design, and storytelling.
  • Good understanding and practice of core graphic design principles, including color, geometry, typography, depth, image, and composition.
  • Proficient with the latest graphics software, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Keen interest in developing digital skills and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Ability to interpret briefs and handle research data effectively, formatting in spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Good communication and collaborative methods, with an eager sense to contribute to the team.
