An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Scheduling Department at The Royal London Hospital. With a salary of £45,000 to £60,000 per annum, we are recruiting an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Clinical Operations Manager - Scheduling.

About this role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with extensive experience of scheduling and 18 week target management over a variety of clinical specialties and levels of complexity. You will be joining a fun and friendly department with a strong focus on improvement and patient experience.

The successful candidate will have a qualification in leadership/management or equivalent and significant experience in leading staff. They will also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to train others in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for ensuring provision of comprehensive and efficient booking and scheduling services for patients, that adhere to the Trust's Access policy with national and local access targets.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead a small team of schedulers to ensure efficient and effective systems of work are carried out.
  • Ensure good communication, choice and a personal and responsive service for patients.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to describe how the functions of this role will be carried out along with the timescales that will be adhered to.
Job responsibilities
  • To provide a consistent approach across the Trust, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • To identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to address these.
  • To work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operation of scheduling services.
Person SpecificationQualifications
  • GCSE standard of education.
  • Qualification in leadership/management or equivalent.
  • Evidence of relevant on-going personal development in e.g. information management.
Experience
  • Experience of working in the NHS in a role with CRS experience, or equivalent competence developed in an associated organisation.
  • Extensive experience of scheduling and 18 week target management over a variety of clinical specialties and levels of complexity.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) with ability to train others.
  • Extensive experience of CRS & DMS.
  • Experience of planning and coordinating patient pathways to maximise use of theatres.
  • Experience of service evaluation e.g. audit.
  • Experience in leading staff.
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of 18 week standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS initiatives (e.g. Patient Choice, CRS) and be able to respond positively to these to ensure local implementation.
