Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior nurse leader to join the Diabetes and Endocrine Outpatient Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of healthcare professionals in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of the department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies within the management structure and multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage workload to optimize time and resources, raising concerns or limitations to managers.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, adhering to local and national policies on confidentiality and data protection.
  • Ensure confidentiality in patient records and maintain professional relationships with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
  • Adhere to Trust policies and procedures, with emphasis on health and safety, drug administration, infection control, and waste disposal.
  • Liaise with primary care services to provide clinical and social support for patients and their carers.
  • Provide detailed referrals to identify patient needs.
  • Lead the team in accordance with the Trust's PROUD values and behaviors.
  • Access electronic systems for patient records and care.

Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with completed national PEAP programme or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Possess or working towards a degree.
  • Relevant experience at AFC band 5.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate Certificate, experience in caring for patients with Diabetes and Endocrinology conditions, and working in an outpatient setting.
  • Essential: evidence of professional development, basic IT/computer skills, excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities, and ability to work under pressure.
