About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team at Howden. As a Cashier, you will play a critical role in providing a comprehensive and excellent service to our clients, ensuring that all commercial bank accounts are managed and controlled in accordance with Group and/or Company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle assigned projects and contribute to other projects as needed
  • Provide relevant management information to senior management
  • Bank and allocate incoming cash and cheques
  • Process cheque and electronic payments for all Group company bank accounts
  • Process inter-group cash transfer requests for all Group company bank accounts
  • Review and arrange authorisation of correctly processed payment requests
  • Process entries onto Group company Accounting and Banking systems
  • Reconcile and maintain all bank and system records
  • Process IBA credit card payments
  • Deal with accounts queries promptly and efficiently
  • Keep informed of all regulatory and legal changes that impact on the job role
  • Ensure up-to-date records are maintained at all times on the Company systems
  • Respond appropriately to urgent issues as they arise
  • Interpret instructions and issues arising, and implement actions according to policies and procedures, in particular CASS (Client Asset Sourcebook) rules
Requirements
  • GCSE's (or equivalent) including Math's and English essential (to Grade C or the equivalent)
  • Numerate
  • Attention to detail with ability to produce accurate documentation and to file documents appropriately
  • Ability to work optimally within a team
  • Prioritisation and interpersonal skills - able to work to deadlines and is willing to be flexible with regards to working hours, if required
  • Self-motivated
  • Proficient IT skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate optimally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders
