Job Title: Teacher of SEND
Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptional Teacher to join our SEND Provision in Derby. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, although this is not essential. Key skills and qualifications include:
- QTS or equivalent
- High level of understanding of different SEND and learning styles
- Ability to teach across age groups
- Knowledge of primary and secondary age curriculum expectations
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
- Excellent behaviour management skills and PMLD knowledge
- Understanding of the Teachers Standards
Main Responsibilities:
- Teaching a range of subjects within the SEND school
- Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
- Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
- Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
- Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
- Possibly supervising on lunch and break times
- Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
- Building relationships with staff and pupils
- Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
- Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
- To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
- Potentially lead in a subject area
