We are seeking an experienced Senior Weather Forecast Analyst to join our team at Statkraft, a leading player in the renewable energy sector.

About the Role

The successful candidate will create and improve weather forecasts for our portfolios across Europe, contributing to daily trading decisions by analyzing latest weather forecasts and doing analogue analysis based on historical weather data.

The ideal candidate will have experience in handling large weather data sets from various formats and be familiar with ECMWF forecasts and other predictions of atmospheric variability from sub-seasonal to seasonal ensemble forecast data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and improve weather forecasts for our portfolios across Europe based on a wide range of numerical weather forecasts and statistical models.
  • Contribute to daily trading decisions by analyzing latest weather forecasts and doing analogue analysis based on historical weather data.
  • Integrate applied research into weather forecasting and atmospheric predictability, visualize and communicate weather variations on different spatial and temporal scales using multiple weather forecast products.
  • Develop statistical arbitrage strategies for power and gas markets based on insights into mid-range weather evolution.
