Job Summary

The Director of Estates and Facilities will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of the University's estates and facilities development programme, aligning with the University's strategy to be world-leading in research, education, and the student experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the University's Accommodation and Commercial Services, encompassing all aspects of University accommodation, facilities management, conferencing, events, community services, retail, and security.
  • Oversee the management of all aspects of the Estates and Facilities function, including new build, refurbishment, and building development projects; infrastructure, sustainability, operations, and property assets.
  • Balance strategic leadership with operational delivery, building strategic partnerships that add value and taking account of a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the University Executive, Council, and Senate to deliver a complex portfolio of development, driving innovation and value for money.
  • Responsible for overseeing a team of over 400 staff and a recurring budget of c.£37m.
About the Role

The Director of Estates and Facilities will be a key member of the University's leadership team, responsible for ensuring the University's estates and facilities are aligned with its strategic objectives. The role requires a strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strategic partnerships and drive innovation and value for money.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex projects and programmes, with experience of leading large teams and managing budgets. They will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the higher education sector and the challenges facing universities in terms of estates and facilities management.
