About the Role
The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Capital Finance Business Partner to join its shared finance service with Kingston Council. This key role will support the Head of Financial Planning and Business Partnering by providing expert advice on the council's capital and commercial programmes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the council's capital investment strategies and programmes, aligning them with the treasury strategy, and financially modeling and appraising projects. They will also lead the end of year closing of accounts processes for capital and ensure all capital transactions are appropriately reflected in the council's accounts.
About Us
The Financial Planning and Business Partnering team supports Sutton Council only, within the shared finance service. The team has 17 positions that combine to deliver revenue and capital financial planning and business partnering services.
The aim of the shared finance service is to add value and inspire success by translating business intelligence into business success, safeguarding the financial health of our Councils, empowering our customers to manage their finances, and learning, improving, and exceeding.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience in developing and implementing capital investment strategies and programmes, aligning capital strategies with the treasury strategy, and financially modeling and project appraisal. They will also have a strong technical understanding of the prudential framework and local authority capital programme financing and reporting requirements.
Additionally, the candidate will hold a relevant professional qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience, and have experience providing support and challenge to senior officers and leadership in a local authority. Proven leadership skills and the ability to engage and inspire are also essential.
