Māori Advisor | Government Liaison

Key Responsibilities
As a Regional Policy Advisor, you will assist whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations, and Māori communities to develop and implement initiatives that enable long-term economic and social development.
You will work with agencies, organisations, and providers to improve outcomes for Māori. Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating regional partnerships and working with stakeholders across the iwi, public, and private sectors.
- Contributing to regional work programmes, including leading and providing policy advice on project-related issues significant to Māori and Government.
- Leading work with agencies, organisations, and providers to improve their outcomes for Māori.
- Acting as an effective conduit for information, both into and out of Māori communities, to support Māori initiatives.
About the Role
Te Puni Kōkiri is seeking an Advisor who can contribute to the work of the team, helping to lead the way in developing government operational policy and investment design in a whānau-centred way. You will use your skills and experience to provide high-quality advice and recommendations.
Key Requirements
To be successful, you will have:
- An understanding of government and public sector processes.
- Sound writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills and strong critical reasoning.
- The ability to identify, build, and actively manage relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Capability in providing high-quality advice and recommendations.
- Numeracy and competency with spreadsheets and databases.
- Comfort working in a tikanga/kaupapa Māori environment, with a degree of fluency in Te reo Māori beneficial.
