Job Description

We are seeking an inspiring English teacher to join our thriving department at a prestigious secondary school in West London. As an English teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and stimulating lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with the National Curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate effective English lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
  • Create a supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
  • Foster a love of reading and literature by introducing students to a wide range of texts, encouraging independent reading, and facilitating book clubs and literary discussions.
Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Provide students with clear, constructive feedback that helps them improve their writing, reading, and analytical skills.
  • Analyze student data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, informing your teaching practice and ensuring all students make progress.
Pastoral Care:
  • Contribute to the pastoral care of students, supporting their wellbeing and personal development.
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering a sense of belonging and creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to address any pastoral concerns and ensure all students have the support they need to thrive.
