About the Role

Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd, a leading manufacturer of commercial mowers and turf maintenance equipment, is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join its team in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop innovative designs that meet technical, performance, and cost targets.
  • Utilize computer-based analysis and simulation techniques, such as FEA, to optimize mechanical system and component designs.
  • Apply tolerances, specification limits, and GD&T to perform accurate tolerance stack analysis.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to showcase design concepts and demonstrate functional requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create and update assembly instructions and technical publications.
  • Assist in developing test regimes to validate design elements of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering-related field, preferably mechanical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software, ideally UG NX, and FEA software, ideally ANSYS.
  • Experience designing in various materials, including steels, plastics, and alloys.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to meet challenging specifications and timescales.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision to defined objectives.
