About the Role

Eton College is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of Head of Rowing. This esteemed role requires a passion for rowing and strong pastoral instincts, along with excellent interpersonal skills to manage a team effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance the school's rowing programme in line with Eton's sporting philosophy.
  • Manage the Boat Club staff, including teaching staff, permanent employees, and casual coaches.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the school and externally to ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee the management of Club finances, budgeting, and control of sub-funds.
  • Liaise with Dorney Boat Club staff on outreach activities and Summer Schools rowing courses.
  • Ensure the Procession of Boats on the Fourth of June runs smoothly.
  • Attend to other ECBC matters, such as liaising with Dorney Lake staff and updating relevant information on the website.
  • Coach a crew personally and oversee the coaching programme across the club.
  • Support internal coach training and development, and recommend external coaches for the VIII.
  • Maintain Health and Safety aspects of Eton College Rowing, including risk assessments and safety officer registration.

Requirements

  • A passion for rowing within a boarding school environment.
  • Excellent pastoral instincts and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing teams and adapting to diverse stakeholders.
  • A proven track record as a successful coach.
  • Considerable experience with modern telemetry equipment.
  • A full driving license to tow a boat trailer.
