We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at MWH Treatment, based in Preston, with a hybrid working arrangement available. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing superior quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the RDL and will be responsible for coordinating the design and producing design documents and drawings, taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards pertaining to the contract.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Producing design layouts that are cost-effective, meet the requirements of the specification, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
  • Ensuring that standard practices are utilized wherever possible, maintaining competitiveness, and providing estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
  • Working to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
  • Assisting in developing procedures and processes, monitoring and reviewing them, and writing, updating, and monitoring efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
  • Ensuring the coordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWH Treatment to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are coordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole.
  • Maintaining files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
  • Assuring customer satisfaction.
  • Working within a culture where satisfying the customer is recognized as the key to achieving other objectives, and that customers include everyone receiving benefit from our processes, whether end users or other departments within the company.

  • Assisting in supervising and developing staff.
  • Assisting in ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.

  • Ensuring designs take account of environmental issues.
  • Ensuring that design takes full regard of all health and safety requirements.
