Clinical Photographer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Photographer to join our team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Photographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality medical imaging services to support patient care and treatment.

• Produce high-quality clinical photographs of patients in a studio setting, using photographic and lighting techniques to accurately record medical conditions.
• Perform clinical photography on location in clinic, ward, and theatre settings, adhering to departmental procedures and protocols.
• Provide photographs for various purposes, including NAI, medico-legal, and police requirements.
• Undertake ophthalmic imaging, including FFA's, OCT's, and Fundus Photography.
• Communicate effectively with patients to facilitate photographic requests and address related queries.
• Utilize image editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, to process and prepare images for upload to the Trust's image database.
• Accurately and timely upload clinical photographs to the Trust's image database, ensuring images are readily accessible to healthcare professionals for assessment and treatment.
• Conduct non-clinical photography for public relations, communication, and staff portrait purposes.
• Offer guidance and advice to Trust staff on photographic-related matters, including requesting processes, consent, and data security.
• Ensure adherence to Trust and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the secure and confidential processing of clinical images and data.

• Photography degree with clinical photography knowledge, skills, and experience.
• BTEC HND, City & Guilds, or equivalent in photography.
• Professional qualification in Medical Illustration/Clinical Photography (desirable).
• Experience in clinical and general photography, with proficiency in digital photography and image management software.
• Knowledge and experience of ophthalmic imaging (desirable).
• Able to demonstrate a good understanding of photographic techniques and procedures.
• Ability to produce standardized clinical photographs.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and work independently.
