Our Mission

The connections process is key to delivering the capacity needed for an efficient and renewable transmission network. To achieve this, we need to deliver an increasing number of highly complex and exciting new projects. As part of our Power System Engineering teams, you will work on customer connections to the Electricity Transmission System.

Your Role

You will ensure compliance, maximize design value, and address long-term implications. Your responsibilities will include identifying innovative options, justifying infrastructure development, ensuring security of supply, and supporting multi-million-pound projects. You will also assess new technology impact and engage with stakeholders in whole network planning.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Using innovative engineering solutions to meet customer needs and comply with our network's requirements.
  2. Ensuring customer connection designs are suitable and accurately describe ownership and asset classifications.
  3. Building and managing technical relationships with customers, understanding their business goals and fulfilling our obligations to them.
Graduate Programme

You'll join our 18-month graduate programme, with a tailored development pathway to support your growth. You'll attend in-person and virtual development sessions to equip you with the essential skills required, as you begin your career at National Grid. We're committed to personal development, offering access to 121 coaching and a mentor from a previous cohort.

Requirements

To be eligible, candidates must have a degree in an Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Data Science discipline (or similar quantitative STEM field). Preferably, this would be in Electrical Engineering. It doesn't matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification.

Location and Benefits

This role is based in Warwick, offering flexible hybrid working arrangements. We provide a graduate starting salary of £34,895. Additional benefits include:

  • A £2,000 bonus upon joining and starting the programme.
  • 26 days holiday.
  • A £2,400 payment on successful completion of the programme.
  • Up to £200 per month accommodation allowance, plus assistance with moving personal belongings and additional annual leave for when you move between placements.
