About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Model Based Systems Engineer to join our Raytheon Technologies team in Harlow, Essex. As a key member of our Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT) Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in producing Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems and Alternative Navigation Solutions for the military market.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of systems engineering, providing expertise across the product lifecycle from requirements capture to testing and certification activities. You will support the System Design Authority and Systems Engineering Team Leaders with the development and management of project requirements, generation of technical documentation, and participation in technical design reviews.

As a Senior Model Based Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for initial system analysis, including scope definition, problem analysis, requirements gathering, and development. You will design and develop architecture and data models using SysML artefacts, such as use case, activity, sequence, state, and class diagrams. Your primary responsibilities will include generating bid proposal material and submitting bids in response to customer requests.

The successful candidate will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing Raytheon Technologies team. They will undertake development studies and investigation activities involving product performance and interfacing with various internal stakeholders. The role will involve working in a highly technical environment, supporting the team as well as working autonomously, laboratory work will be involved for product testing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering expertise across the product lifecycle, from requirements capture to testing and certification activities
  • Support the System Design Authority and Systems Engineering Team Leaders with the development and management of project requirements
  • Generate technical documentation, including specifications, designs, and test plans
  • Participate in technical design reviews and provide input on project deliverables
  • Design and develop architecture and data models using SysML artefacts
  • Generate bid proposal material and submit bids in response to customer requests

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements through to certification
  • Experience with SysML or UML in a Systems Engineering environment
  • Experience with generation of technical documentation (internal and for customers)
  • Understanding of policies, practises and procedures, and the ability to communicate these to their team
  • Able to work in a team and perform to project directives
  • Able to work autonomously, with limited oversight from Team Leaders and Management
  • Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics) or similar
  • Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance

Desirable Skills

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Knowledge of GNSS systems and receiver characteristics
  • Experience with RF (including Antennas) and Digital Hardware design and test
  • Experience in verification & validation, including environmental and EMC testing
  • Experience with Enterprise Architect or similar integrated modelling platform
  • Experience with Simulink for design analysis and test of system and software architectures
  • Experience with MATLAB for data analysis, algorithm development, and model creation
  • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS toolset
  • Experience with configuration management systems

About Our Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including:
