Principal Technical Safety Engineer

Wood Digital Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Principal Technical Safety Engineer to support our UK projects.

This is a hybrid role that can be based anywhere in the UK, with mobility and travel to customer sites and face-to-face meetings with colleagues as required.

Applicants must be able to pass the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of UK critical infrastructure projects in line with company objectives, including continuous improvement of customer satisfaction, schedule, and safety performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical safety standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams on safety-related matters, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and control measures.
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals, business cases, and technical reports to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering subject.
  • Proven experience as a technical safety engineer, with a strong background in relevant codes of practice, standards, and statutory documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proactive approach, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting project deadlines.
