The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Scientist, Bioinformatics to join our team. As a key member of our bioinformatics group, you will be responsible for developing innovative genomics solutions used to support treatment decisions based on the cancer's molecular profile, early detection, and monitoring of malignancies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze experiments to support existing or new Illumina oncology assays.
  • Develop and prototype algorithms for genomic biomarkers to meet novel molecular diagnostic needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal and external collaborators.
  • Participate in cross-functional assay and algorithm R&D teams with minimal oversight.
  • Effectively communicate plans and results across functions.
Requirements:
  • PhD in bioinformatics, computation biology, statistics, math, or a related field.
  • Fluency in at least two of statistics, common bioinformatics methods, and NGS data analysis.
  • Experience with developing bioinformatics NGS algorithms and methodology.
  • Fluency in programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Good communication skills to contribute to cross-functional project teams and work with stakeholders.
About the Team

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary and multinational team working on innovative technologies and algorithms that support genomics researchers making the discoveries that change the world. Our algorithms will be part of DRAGEN, Illumina's software platform to analyze high-throughput sequencing data.
