About the Role

Cancer Research UK is seeking an experienced Medicinal Chemistry leader to join our Drug Discovery team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and driving our Medicinal Chemistry strategy, working closely with our scientists and researchers to deliver innovative solutions to cancer treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive a high-performing team to provide all aspects of Medicinal Chemistry
  • Provide scientific and people leadership to drive innovation and portfolio success
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership within the Medicinal Chemistry and DMPK group
  • Work at the intersection between medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, mechanistic pharmacology, structural biology & DMPK to define and prosecute hit finding strategies
  • Deliver compounds suitable for nomination as pre-IND candidates
  • Lead drug discovery projects where appropriate

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience and expertise in medicinal chemistry in a drug discovery environment
  • Strong external reputation in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Significant experience in developing and leading a diverse world-class team
