Job Description

Job Title: Scaffolding Instructor - Training Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scaffolding Instructor to join our team at CITB. As a Scaffolding Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training to our students, ensuring they meet the required standards and achieve their learning objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Training: Deliver training to a high standard, achieving course objectives, both practical and theoretical, within the allotted time frames.
  • Course Preparation: Ensure that course materials, equipment, training aids, and documentation are available to meet the objectives of all courses.
  • Course Development: Update and develop course materials, including training aids, lesson plans, and timetables, to ensure they are relevant and effective.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct industry-recognized training and assessments on trainees, ensuring compliance with scheme rules and regulations.
  • Health and Safety: Promote and maintain a safe learning environment, ensuring high standards of health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, and equality and diversity are maintained at all times.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Complete and maintain all trainees' course reports, assessment forms, and other relevant documentation, as required by awarding bodies and CITB quality procedures.
  • Professional Development: Demonstrate our company behaviors, challenge inappropriate behavior, and continuously improve teaching abilities through ongoing observations and feedback.
  • Workload Management: Plan and prioritize workload as required, identifying improvements and innovations in delivery to support the development of our students.
  • Equipment and Safety: Ensure correct equipment usage and safe operation, promoting efficiency savings and a safe working environment.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with apprentices, college staff, and senior instructors on a wide range of issues, including progress reviews, safeguarding, and disciplinary matters.

Requirements:

  • Essential Qualifications: Recognized apprenticeship and/or qualifications, such as a CPCS card or relevant Blue card in multiple categories, relevant to plant operations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to attend training and achieve Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy.
  • Industry Knowledge: Sound proven knowledge of current industry practices and experience/ability in construction skills relevant to the post, in areas such as construction, access, health and safety, or plant operations.
  • Teaching Qualification: Must be prepared to work towards and achieve a relevant teaching qualification to at least Level 4 within 12 months.
  • Health and Safety Qualifications: Hold a relevant health and safety qualification, with training provided within 6 months.
  • Safeguarding and Equality: Understand and commit to safeguarding and equality and diversity, with training provided.
  • First Aid: Hold a First Aid at Work Certificate within 6 months.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Assessor Units: Possession of Assessor units would be advantageous, with training provided.
  • Teaching Qualifications: Hold relevant teaching qualifications, such as CTLLS Level 4 or equivalent, with training provided.
  • Health and Safety Qualifications: Possess a recognized Health and Safety qualification, such as SMSTS, PTTLS, or NEBOSH Construction, with training provided.
  • Trainer Card: Possess an accredited Trainer card or Tester Card for relevant specialisms, with training provided.
  • Construction Qualification: Relevant construction Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Leadership and Motivation: Proven ability to motivate, enthuse, and develop positive attitudes in young people, supporting them to overcome barriers to learning and progression.
  • Organizational Skills: Well-organized and efficient, with the ability to manage own workload.
  • Industry Experience: Be prepared to undertake work placements within the industry to develop industry experience and CPD.
