Job Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cleaning Operations Specialist to join our team at OCS Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain the cleanliness of floors, furniture, and fittings, adhering to set methods, standards, and frequencies.
  2. Perform non-cleaning tasks, such as washing patient crockery and making beds with clean linen, in accordance with set standards and frequency.
  3. Operate cleaning equipment, including electrical equipment, to achieve the specified standards of cleanliness.
  4. Handle refuse (domestic and clinical) for disposal purposes.
  5. Replenish supplies of paper hand towels, toilet tissue, soap, hand moisturiser, and alcohol gel as required.
  6. Complete cleaning tasks in line with the relevant cleaning schedule, re-organising the order of cleaning to fit with clinical needs where necessary, to ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed to the set standard.
  7. Complete documentation to record 'full clean' completed.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of specified cleaning methods and frequencies.
  9. Communicate with Cleaning Supervisors, patients, visitors, ward, and departmental staff in order to achieve the specified standard of cleanliness.
  10. Ensure compliance with Trust and company policies, procedures, and good practices.
  11. Participate in training of new staff within Cleaning by demonstrating duties and responsibilities.
  12. Participate in trials for cleaning materials, equipment, work methods, and frequencies.
  13. Demonstrate an understanding and ensure compliance with company, Trust, and Departmental Health and Safety Procedures.
  14. Follow correct procedures for operating equipment, machinery, and materials, ensuring compliance with procedures for reporting defects.
  15. Identify Health and Safety Hazards, complete informal risk assessments, recommend solutions, and take action to minimise risk as appropriate.
  16. Ensure the observance of safe working methods and report accidents and incidents in the appropriate manner. Assist with investigation as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Able to understand written instruction.
  2. Successful completion of induction and in-house training on RUH cleaning methodology.
  3. QCF Level 2 in Cleaning.
  4. Experience of using cleaning materials and equipment.
  5. Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and their own area of responsibility.
  6. Understand the importance of environmental hygiene and its impact on the safety and wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff.
  7. Demonstrates ability to work as part of a team or autonomously and experience of the different types of working.
  8. Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
  9. Previous experience in the cleaning industry.
  10. Training/Knowledge of cleaning procedures and cleaning equipment.
  11. COSHH training.
  12. Manual Handling training.
  13. Working understanding of hospitals.
  14. Working understanding of cleaning systems.
  15. Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of people, including patients and staff about a range of cleaning issues.
  16. Flexible approach to work.
