Director of Literacy

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Literacy to further enhance literacy across our academy. The successful candidate will join a highly effective team of senior middle leaders who work closely with the Senior Team to ensure we provide our students with the very best education possible.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a whole academy 'Literacy Development Plan' that aligns with our academy's ambition statement: 'Shaping Lives, Building Ambition and Igniting Futures'
  2. Lead and support teachers to ensure curriculum intent and implementation prioritises literacy, with a focus on reading skills for all students, particularly those who need support to improve their reading rapidly
  3. Model the highest standards of oracy, reading, writing, and SPaG, and provide guidance and support to teachers to ensure they meet these standards
  4. Work collaboratively with the Director of English to take the teaching of literacy across the academy to the next level
  5. Contribute to the development of a strong sense of belonging for all students, enabling them to succeed and become active members of the community as they move into adulthood
