Job Title: Medical Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist to join our team at Oakleaf Recruitment. As a Junior Doctor, you will provide support to Associate Specialists and Consultants in the medical assessment and treatment of patients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily visits to units to check for outstanding work and ensure medical cover for colleagues.
  • Liaise with the nursing team to address deficits of care and treatment.
  • Re-write medication prescription charts and TTOs according to Hospital policy.
  • Ensure Drug Allergy Status is known for all individuals receiving inpatient service.
  • Undertake work required for new patient admissions, including completion of admission documents.
  • Contact family, carers, and professionals in the community to obtain information for patient care.
  • Ensure all inpatients have had a physical health check and liaise with nursing staff to identify checks due.
  • Undertake physical health checks and request further screening/testing or referral as required.
  • Attend Multi-disciplinary meetings and daily morning meetings when allocated the assistance pager.
  • Undertake weekly reviews with allocated patients and document in clinical records.
  • Full documentation of all contact, treatment plans, and progress in individual patient records.
  • Preparation of reports such as Ward Review updates and discharge summaries as requested.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Good clinical care and maintaining good medical practice.
  • Good relationships and communication with patients and colleagues.
  • Good teaching and training, professional behaviour, and probity.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and up-to-date knowledge fit to practise safely.
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English for effective communication.
  • Meets professional health requirements and able to demonstrate acute care safety and up-to-date resuscitation training.
  • Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk, knows when to seek help, and able to prioritise clinical need.
  • Capacity to work co-operatively with others and demonstrate leadership when appropriate.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team, values the input of other professionals, and capacity to operate under pressure.
