Rowing Coach and Programme Manager Job SpecificationAbout Us:

Exeter College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated rowing coach to lead our men's and women's squads, focusing on preparing them for intercollegiate bumps races. We are looking for someone who can strike a balance between competition and inclusivity, while possessing expertise in boat rigging and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive training programmes to enhance squad performance
  • Conduct regular water sessions, providing constructive feedback to rowers and coxes
  • Maintain accurate records of erg scores and other relevant data to ensure fair crew selection
  • Cultivate strong relationships with captains and president to establish achievable goals and monitor progress
  • Assist senior coaches in mentoring novice coxes, mainly during the Michaelmas term
  • Ensure availability during term time to coach sessions, encompassing mornings and evenings
  • Foster a culture of open communication, promoting team cohesion and motivation
  • Engage with staff and students to build a positive team environment

Requirements:

  • A competitive salary of approximately £58,000 - £68,000, based on experience
  • Extensive experience in coaching rowing at a high level
  • Thorough knowledge of Oxford college rowing, specifically bumps racing
  • Proficiency in coxing or willingness to acquire this skill
  • Exceptional understanding of boat rigging and equipment
