About the Role

The Police Federation of England and Wales is seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring our compliance with UK GDPR and data protection laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with UK GDPR and other data protection laws.
  • Evaluate and implement data protection and privacy policies, and security measures to protect personal data.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments and review processes to ensure compliance with data regulations.
  • Act as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and be the main point of contact for the ICO.
  • Provide advice on data protection and privacy matters to stakeholders.
  • Lead and process data incidents and data breaches, managing responses and escalations.
  • Implement data protection audits to evidence compliance and accountability.
  • Design and implement data protection awareness raising, training, and audits.
  • Oversee the maintenance of records required to demonstrate GDPR compliance.
Requirements
  • Experience of influencing, leading, and educating peers on data protection topics.
  • Expert knowledge of data protection laws and policies.
  • Good working knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and work independently.
  • Pragmatic approach to balancing risk with operational benefits.
  • Excellent communication skills.
