About the Role

We are seeking two appointments in history of philosophy, at either Lecturer (Grade 8) or Associate Professor (Grade 9) level.

One appointee will have a research specialism in Kant's theoretical philosophy, while the other will have a research specialism in history of continental philosophy, including phenomenology, German idealism, existentialism, critical theory, etc.

Both appointees will develop a research profile that is excellent by global standards and will teach up to four full modules each academic year.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting and marking essays or examinations
  • Mentoring and training graduate teaching assistants
  • Supervising undergraduates, taught masters students, and postgraduate research students
  • Contributing to departmental citizenship

About You

Applicants should have a PhD in Philosophy, awarded before the start date, and a research specialism in either Kant's theoretical philosophy or history of continental philosophy.

Experience of teaching and supervision in a higher education setting is essential.
