Academic Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our specialist secondary school and pupil referral unit in Whitehaven, West Cumbria.
The ideal candidate will have a background in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH) and be able to work effectively in small class sizes.
About the RoleAs a Teaching Assistant in this SEMH setting, you will work under the supervision of teachers to provide specialist support and maximize pupil development and achievement.
You will develop and deliver learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils, adapting programmes to meet the needs of allocated pupils.
- Key Responsibilities:

- Provide support for pupils with various difficulties, including behavioral, communication, social, sensory, or physical challenges.
- Accompany and supervise pupils on out-of-school activities, using initiative to address any issues that arise.
- Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to apply for one.
- Professional references checks.
- CV with at least 10 years of employment/education history and explanation of any employment breaks.
- Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or above.
