Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Asset Management team at the Canal & River Trust. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving our waterway assets, ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers and stakeholders.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Asset management responsibility for a geographical area of canals, river navigations, and reservoirs.
- Undertaking scheduled asset inspections, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high quality.
- Investigating and prioritizing defects on a risk-based approach.
- Defining and supporting maintenance, repair, and renewal works for delivery by the Trust's teams and contractors.
- Contributing technical advice during the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning phases for projects.
- Managing a small team of asset inspectors who monitor changes to the infrastructure.
- Supporting internal and external enquiries associated with the assets.
- Providing suitable temporary works designs to support local minor maintenance teams.
- Building relationships with local representatives of partnerships, regulators, and stakeholders.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
- Incorporated (IEng) status or actively working towards with the Institution of Civil Engineers (or similar).
- Proven experience of inspecting engineering activities.
- Proven experience in assessing infrastructure risk.
- Proven experience of safety in engineering, including CDM.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
- Knowledge and understanding of historic infrastructure, preferably in the water environment.
