About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Environment team. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our environment projects, ensuring that we deliver high-quality services to our clients while maintaining a strong commercial focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in creating a safe working environment and apply the required governance.
  • Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments and change management.
  • Produce and issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities to achieve enhanced margin positions.
  • Take responsibility for achieving business targets, including cash, profit, return on capital, and sales.
  • Develop and manage customer and stakeholder relationships for repeat business opportunities and tenders.
  • Produce and maintain detailed cost plans, tracking and forecasting expenditure.
  • Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
  • Attend progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the senior leadership team, peers, and teams to debate, develop, and implement initiatives and change management protocols.
  • Apply the principles of 'Doing the right thing' in maximizing value and profit.
  • Be available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.
  • Manage teams and develop commercial staff to ensure they reach their potential and support their wellbeing.

About You:

  • Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word, and Contractual and Cost Management Systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of construction processes.
  • First-class time and outcome management skills.
  • Track record of negotiation and final account settlement.
  • Professional qualification, such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally incorporated member, working towards full membership.
  • Experience in Civil Engineering Environment, including Highways, Rail, Water, and Aviation.
  • Exposure to large single or multiple smaller schemes.
  • CSCS, as appropriate.
