About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our East Team in Wiltshire, working with vulnerable children and families to provide support and safeguarding services.
Job Summary
As a Social Worker with Wiltshire Council, you will be part of a dynamic team that empowers families and protects futures. You will work with children and families from pre-birth to age 18, providing support and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
• Conducting assessments and enquiries to identify the needs and risks of vulnerable children and young people.
• Developing and implementing plans to address identified issues and maximize the participation of service users and carers in the process.
• Collaborating with professionals and multi-agency teams to provide a holistic approach to supporting vulnerable children and families.
• Writing reports and attending meetings, such as child protection conferences and legal planning meetings.
• Working collaboratively with Keyworkers, Senior Keyworkers, and Local Partnership Advisors to achieve shared family goals.
• Maintaining accurate electronic records and contributing positively to the social work team and department.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
• A professional social work qualification.
• Social Work England registration.
• Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with and the protection of children and young people.
• Knowledge of child development and the needs of vulnerable children, those who have experienced trauma, and children in care.
• Experience of direct work with children, young people, and families.
• Experience of working with children in care, their families, and foster carers.
• Excellent report writing skills and the ability to keep accurate electronic records.
• Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work, manage your own time effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with colleagues, outside agencies, and service users.
• The ability to identify problems with some complexity and demonstrate a creative approach to such problems.
• The ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships within and outside the department.
• Fluency in English.
Desirable Skills
The following skills are desirable but not essential:
• A post-qualifying award in Social Work.
• A Practice Teachers Award Training qualification.
• Experience of delivering training.
• Supervision skills.
• Experience of mentoring ASYEs.
• Experience of supervising student placements.
