Support Officer, Farming in Protected Landscapes

This role is based at our office in Hexham, Northumberland, with some flexibility to work from home.

We are seeking a part-time or full-time Support Officer to join our team, with a minimum of three days per week.

This is a fixed-term contract until further notice.

The salary for this role is £26,873-£29,777 per annum, pro rata if part-time.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to support farmers and landowners in accessing funding streams as part of the DEFRA Farming in Protected Landscapes Funding Programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to farmers and landowners, including verification of claims and monitoring projects.
  • Assist with project administration, including data entry and record-keeping.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with farmers, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of funding applications and reports.
  • Provide general administrative support to the team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable understanding of the issues facing rural communities and businesses, especially those within the upland farming sector.
  • Confidence in the use of information technology systems, including Microsoft Office 365 and GIS applications.
  • Project administration/management experience, including verification of claims and monitoring projects.
  • A working knowledge of local and regional government structures in England.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
