Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiological Protection Engineer to join AtkinsRéalis' expanding Decommissioning Services team. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Engineer/RPA and take a leading role in the radiological protection aspects of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level technical advice to client sites on radiological protection.
  • Develop and review technical designs, products, and processes to ensure compliance with radiological protection regulations.
  • Support the development of Project Execution Plans to ensure a fit-for-purpose approach to each project.
  • Direct and support junior staff in their work and development, including Graduate and Assistant RP Engineers.
  • Develop radiological protection arrangements for projects, including documentation such as Risk Assessments, Radiological Design Documents, and Critical Examinations.
  • Review radiological monitoring data for operational packages of work.
  • Liaise with inspectors and regulators during audits and investigations as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent ability and experience.
  • Appropriate membership of a professional body.
  • Significant experience in operational radiological protection, with a focus on quality of experience over number of years.
  • Evidence of providing advice on compliance with IRR'17 (and/or IRR'99).
  • Able to lead teams within the RP discipline and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Able to delegate to, direct, and support junior staff in their work and development.
  • Able to effectively manage stakeholders and influence others to implement improvements.
  • Able to work without supervision, including managing own workload.
  • Able to use standard Microsoft Office tools effectively.
  • Able to obtain an SC security clearance.
  • Able to travel and hold a full driving license.
