About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a skilled Decommissioning Technician to join our team in Whitehaven, UK. As a Decommissioning Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting high-hazard decommissioning projects as part of a multi-discipline team within our Decommissioning Waste Services Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide solutions to technical issues relating to decommissioning, including developing technical solutions to waste, environmental, and radiological protection problems.
  • Produce technical documentation, including environmental assessments, waste management documentation, and radiological protection documentation.
  • Support activities to ensure clients meet their permitting and legislation requirements within the highly regulated nuclear industry.
  • Support clients at their nuclear sites and off-site offices, including travel to different sites.
  • Support onsite decommissioning activities through AtkinsRéalis and client-led projects.

Requirements

  • A passion for responsible environment and waste management, and enthusiasm for helping to provide solutions for some of the UK's most challenging decommissioning missions.
  • A good standard of literacy and the ability to write clear, concise reports.
  • Innovative, open to ideas, and possess a questioning attitude.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and flexible in approach, with a willingness to travel and work in the field as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the nuclear sector and decommissioning.
  • Understanding of radiation principles and protection requirements.
