About the Role

As a Data Scientist at ConvaTec, you will leverage data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive business value across various units within our organization. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, you will design and implement out-the-box and tailored AI solutions that increase process productivity, reduce costs, generate revenue, and enhance customer satisfaction. You will play a key role in transforming our operations by creating operational frameworks, identifying use cases and success metrics, and securing leadership and executive buy-in. Additionally, you will advise on technology selection, assist in change adoption strategies, and explore the broad applicability of AI and automation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify potential use cases, define success metrics, and necessary datasets to align AI/Automation implementation with business needs and impact.
  • Work with Security, Compliance, Enterprise Architecture offices and the AI Steering Group Chair on AI ethics definition and alignment.
  • Identify and prioritize key areas for AI solutions with cross-functional teams to drive significant business benefits.
  • Assist in prioritizing quick-win initiatives based on technology adoption potential versus high business value.
  • Lead or assist teams in implementing AI use cases, with focus on out-the-box AI
  • Actively code and deliver AI use cases when applicable.
  • Optimize AI models for performance, scalability, and efficiency, utilizing cloud-based resources and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Develop AI operational frameworks tailored to the organization's needs, workforce skills, and competencies.
  • Present findings to the executive leadership team to showcase the impact of delivered work.
  • Create delivery mechanisms for AI use cases while assisting in the formation of a Data Science team and AI Centre of Excellence.
  • Support technology implementation and define adoption strategies/pathways to facilitate process changes.
  • Prepare relevant project stage gate documentation.
  • Participate in the hiring process of relevant AI experts and train other team members.
  • Guide peers by conducting code reviews, sprint planning, and technical assessments of their analyses.

About You
  • Four or more years of experience in applying AI to practical, comprehensive technology solutions and consultancy.
  • Required: Bachelors degree in computer science, mathematics or similar engineering.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree (Master or in similar subjects
  • Preferred: Certification in data science, machine learning and technologies
  • Required: Domain expertise in Machine Learning, Programming, Data Analysis & Management, Statistics and Vizulization.
  • Knowledge of basic algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles, and best-practice patterns.
  • Experience in REST API development, NoSQL database design, and RDBMS design and optimizations.
  • Experience in implementing GenAI, NLP, computer vision, or other AI frameworks/technologies.
  • Proficiency with tools and technologies, including:LLMs and implementing RAG or different prompt strategies.Azure OpenAI, off-the-shelf platform native AI tools and models.Knowledge of ML pipeline orchestration tools.Proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of various supporting packages.
  • Strong experience in data engineering and aligned hyperscale platforms (, Databricks, Synapse, Fivetran).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment on personal data that is highly regulated ( GxP validation, Computer Systems Validation).

Soft Skills
  • Advise IT leadership, C-suite executives, and business leaders on technology, strategy, and policy issues related to AI.
  • Experience working within the healthcare sector and knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead project teams and initiatives, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in managing tactical project direction and delegating as necessary.
