Job Title: Policy Coordinator

Join the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) team as a Policy Coordinator, where you will play a key role in shaping the organization's economic policy stance and influencing government decisions.

About the Role

The Policy Coordinator will be responsible for leading the CBI's process around fiscal events, including:

  • Overseeing and authoring the CBI's submissions to the Chancellor
  • Coordinating input from across the policy floor
  • Liaising with press and campaigns teams
  • Overseeing the microeconomic analysis function which supports policy development

The ideal candidate will have a good foundation in economics and experience of project or programme management. They will also have the ability to work at pace/under pressure and with a high level of autonomy, flagging risks and opportunities to the wider Economic Policy team and Director of Economic Policy.

Key Responsibilities

The Policy Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Project management of fiscal events process, including matrix management of project team resource from the policy directorate
  • Ensuring CBI policy recommendations are credible and realistic in light of the fiscal and economic context
  • Drafting clear and compelling CBI submissions to the Chancellor ahead of fiscal events
  • Building strong working relationships with Treasury officials and making a compelling case for our policy asks when lobbying

The Policy Coordinator will also be responsible for communicating the work and role of the Economic Policy team internally and seeking innovative ways to maximise our member service by leveraging the work the team does around fiscal events and the fiscal intelligence we gather.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good foundation in economics
  • Experience of project or programme management
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to take a step back and look at policy asks across key areas
  • The ability to work at pace/under pressure and with a high level of autonomy
