About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetics Consultant to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our Anaesthesia Department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our anaesthetic services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and consolidate expertise in anaesthesia, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships between anaesthesia and clinical service/support units within the Trust.
  • Maintain and expand the excellence of teaching and research within the Trust.
  • Support service plans for the specialty, taking account of changes in clinical practice and new technologies available.
  • Participate in and progress clinical governance.
Person Specification
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Up to date and fit to practise safely.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant higher degree.
  • Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
  • Well-organised and skilled in good time management.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
  • Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process.
  • Attendance at recognised management course.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in anaesthesia.
  • Specifically, must demonstrate advanced training in Hepatobiliary Anaesthesia and experience of Liver Transplant Anaesthesia.
  • Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
  • CCT in Anaesthesia or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
  • Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
  • Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
