As a Senior Planning Policy Officer, you will be responsible for leading the County Council's response to national and regional publications in relation to infrastructure issues, Statutory Undertakers, and national policy documents. You will work closely with District Council colleagues, Local Members, Senior members of staff, and central government to ensure that the County Council's planning policies are effective and aligned with national and regional priorities.

About the Team

The Infrastructure Investment Team is responsible for ensuring that the county's transport, housing, and employment sectors are fit for the future. The team collaborates with others nationally and locally to shape housing and business growth, address infrastructure needs, and develop strategic planning policies. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and initiatives that will have a significant impact on the county's development.

About You

We are looking for an individual with a degree or higher qualification in town and country planning, surveying, or a related subject, who also possesses experience working at a senior level of responsibility within a complex political environment. You will have a solid understanding of the development process and be able to effectively oversee and discharge the overall planning policy function. You should be able to demonstrate experience of providing evidence and acting as an expert witness in public inquiries, highlighting your ability to navigate and influence complex situations.

You should also have a proven track record of promoting consensual partnership working between diverse organizations, championing collaboration and shared goals. Extensive project management experience, along with the ability to apply various project management techniques, is essential to succeed in this role.
