Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic registered practitioner to join the Cheshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre as a Deputy Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner.

The successful candidate will support the existing Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Manager, Clinical Director, and Lead Administrator in the management and development of the screening programme.

Main Duties
  • Collaborate with the Programme Hub to ensure the provision of specialist, expert knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients, and carers/relatives.
  • Coordinate and provide care from the screening centre to address the needs of individuals arising as a consequence of the screening programme.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of health promotion activities to be delivered to all sections of society.
  • Day-to-day management of a team of Specialist Screening Practitioners in the absence of the Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner.
  • Deputising for the Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner as necessary and supporting the Clinical Director, Clinical Nurse Manager, Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner, and Lead Administrator within the Programme.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Registered AHP or Nurse.
  • Diploma or equivalent knowledge in related subject(s).
  • Post Graduate certificate in specialist screening practice.
  • Participated in service innovation/redesign and change management.
  • Evidence of personal and professional development.
  • Broad range of clinical experience with knowledge and experience within the BCSP speciality.
  • Supervision and management of staff in a clinical setting.
  • Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area.
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience within BCSP.

  • Knowledge of service development and implementation of change.
  • Ability to communicate unpleasant/sensitive information to patients in a variety of settings.
  • Able to influence and overcome resistance through application of advanced communication skills.
  • Intermediate IT skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Able to collate and analyse data and provide written reports.
  • Able to manage workload autonomously.
  • Able to present information to MDTs.
  • Knowledge of professional and NHS issues and policy relating to specialist area.
  • Able to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of specialist nursing care.
