Job Title: Wheelchair Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our Kent Wheelchair Service team. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex mobility needs.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for assessing the mobility needs of adults and children with complex needs, and prescribing manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories. You will also supervise junior staff and provide clinical guidance to other non-clinical colleagues in the service.

As a member of our team, you will work closely with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver high-quality service performance that demonstrates a personalized approach with measured outcomes. You will also liaise with service user groups and other stakeholders to facilitate joint working and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the mobility needs of adults and children with complex needs
  • Prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories
  • Supervise junior staff and provide clinical guidance to other non-clinical colleagues
  • Work with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver high-quality service performance
  • Liaise with service user groups and other stakeholders to facilitate joint working
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a highly motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. You will also need to have experience of working with patients with long-term or deteriorating medical conditions, and be confident in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping and analysis of service performance.

You must be registered with the HCPC as an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Clinical Scientist, or registered as a Nurse with the NMC. You must also hold a full current UK driving license for a manual transmission vehicle and be willing to drive Ross Care vehicles (vans) as necessary.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
