Job Summary

This is a challenging role that requires a high degree of expertise in managing radioactive waste. As a Nuclear Waste Management Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating the review, sentencing, and consignment of radioactive solid and non-aqueous waste on behalf of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with third-party waste acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate resources and governance bodies to facilitate the export of radioactive waste while maintaining AWE's permits and authorizations.
  • Identify and assess assay requirements to support RA waste sentencing.
  • Collaborate with the RA Waste Operations Manager to optimize waste management services in line with regulatory and business requirements.
About the Role

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of hazardous waste operations and experience utilizing databases to interpret and manipulate information. They will also possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority-changing environment.

Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste operations.

  • A good understanding of applying rigorous safety and quality cultures to practical demands.
  • An awareness of health and safety and good working practice.

The estimated salary for this role is £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience.
