Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Expleo. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex systems, leading technical teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex systems, including software-intensive systems, to meet customer requirements within budget
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles and company approaches to design and develop solutions, resolving engineering issues and problems
  • Discern and decompose stakeholder requirements to system and sub-system level, managing these in an approved toolset
  • Undertake system design decomposition and architectural modeling to subsystem level, including associated external and internal interface definition
  • Produce and maintain system design documentation, procurement specifications, and system integration and test plans
  • Define and undertake system integration, test planning, and execution, ensuring compliance with business, legislative, and customer requirements
  • Support identification and recording of ITAR and EAR item status, contribute to product safety activities and reviews
  • Undertake prototyping of proposed Training Systems product solutions, support bid solution design and estimating

Essential Skills

  • Understands engineering principles and approaches underpinning design and development activities, capable of systems thinking and holistic approaches to complex problems
  • Demonstrates understanding, knowledge, and experience of Systems Engineering, including knowledge of appropriate Systems Engineering standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills, both in terms of creative and analytical areas
  • Experience of system integration, test, and acceptance, requirements management, and configuration management
  • Experience of working with large-scale complex system designs, multiple phases of an engineering lifecycle, and good knowledge of lifecycle models and associated tools
  • Experience of presenting technical and non-technical information in a formal setting, good level of IT literacy
  • Higher education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline

Desired Skills

  • Appreciation of, or some experience in, software design and development
  • Knowledge of electrical regulations, fire detection/suppression systems, and HVAC systems
  • Experience of using a high-level design methodology, working with contemporary concepts and technologies
  • Knowledge of the defense industry, including geopolitical influences and current UK government strategy
