The NHS is seeking an experienced medical professional to join the learning disability psychiatry service, providing high-quality care and treatment to individuals with complex mental health needs.

About the Role

This challenging yet rewarding position offers a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive in-patient and community services.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering patient-centered care. They will be responsible for assessing, managing, and treating patients with complex mental illnesses, working closely with families and support providers to ensure seamless care transitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective medical care to patients with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct assessments and provide diagnoses of complex mental illnesses.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain Section 12(2) MHA approval and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Full registration with the GMC with a license to practice.
  • Relevant medical qualifications.
  • At least four years of post-registration experience in psychiatry.
  • Experience in assessing and managing complex mental illnesses.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What We Offer

The NHS offers a competitive salary, ranging from £59,175 to £95,400 per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate will also have access to opportunities for professional development, a supportive work environment, and a comprehensive benefits package.
