Electrical Project Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead our Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies for high voltage transmission projects, including Offshore Wind Farm connections into the Grid.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Engineering team working on FEED studies to assess customer requirements and develop solutions from first principles.
  • Develop and explore different options to derive the most efficient solution for electrical load flow requirements and equipment ratings.
  • Work with stakeholders, including customers, offshore platform designers, and equipment suppliers, to develop the proposed solution to the basic design level.
  • Support the Bid team with the costing of the solution.
  • Ensure a consistent and structured approach is taken to the development of solutions that meet customer needs while remaining commercially attractive.
  • Understand customer requirements, regulatory constraints, and standards that need to be adhered to and ensure they are fully considered by all stakeholders.
  • Develop a provisional power system architecture that meets the needs of the project.
  • Assess the performance of the proposed solution in areas of Grid Code compliance and availability, and adjust the design accordingly.
  • Present engineering options to internal stakeholders and customers to gain agreement and progress the design to the early realisation phase.
  • Work with designers to develop a practical realisation of the power system for the offshore platform and onshore substation.
  • Formulate a commercial offer to the customer for the proposed design.
Requirements:
  • A first degree in Power Engineering or an electrical engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in a role where you are undertaking electrical FEED study work on high voltage transmission systems, preferably the connection of Offshore Wind Farms.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical load flow and equipment sizing, development of preliminary substation layouts, and Grid Code compliance.
