About the Opportunity
">We are seeking an experienced Lead Consultant in Rare Conditions to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a specialist in paediatric endocrinology, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and development of our department.
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of paediatric diabetes management and education, including dietary management, insulin pump management (CSII) with hybrid closed loop (HCL), and advanced glucose monitoring technologies. You will work closely with our existing team to deliver the highly specialised National Rare Diabetes service at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tertiary endocrine services, including general endocrinology and type 1 and type 2 Diabetes clinics
- Contribute to the delivery of secondary and tertiary endocrine services, on site with a combination of virtual and face-to-face clinics and inpatient care
- Share in the provision of outpatient services for Endocrinology and Diabetes and provide inpatient advice, as well as regional and supra-regional advice when requested
Requirements
- Tertiary trained in paediatric endocrinology & diabetes
- Extensive knowledge of paediatric diabetes management and education
- Experience in caring for children with rare forms of diabetes
