We are seeking an experienced Automotive Engineering Expert to join our team at Willcox Matthews Ltd. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced robotic systems for automation, with a focus on Body in White (BiW) projects.

About the Job:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced design engineer to work on innovative automotive projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in front-end design, automation design, and CAD (AutoCAD / Inventor) usage.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing assembly tooling, equipment layouts, sequencing, GD&T, and operator ergonomics for multiple BiW projects.
  • Collaborating with the wider team to innovate and streamline processes for automated assembly lines, enhancing efficiency and reducing capital investment.
  • Interpreting customer requirements and developing concept designs into robust assembly solutions.
  • Overseeing third-party design resources, managing their workload, and ensuring adherence to the project's initial scope to maintain design integrity and project vision.
  • Implementing robust project management strategies to control the design phase, guaranteeing that all milestones are met and the project stays on track to successful completion.
  • Utilizing design software to accelerate and develop processes.
  • Applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to simplify the product structure, reduce the number of components, and enhance the manufacturing process.
  • Managing regular internal and external design review activities to ensure all elements are addressed.
  • Controlling engineering changes processes and managing their implementation from start to finish.

Requirements:

  • Fron-end design experience.
  • Creative solution provider.
  • Automation design experience.
  • CAD (AutoCAD / Inventor) usage.

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum.
