About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our cancer care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals affected by cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver individualized nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, haematology, and oncology treatments.
  • Assist senior staff in the provision of nursing care, ensuring compliance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust Policies.
  • Support the team in achieving chemotherapy services, including the safe handling, administration, and disposal of anti-cancer therapy.
  • Use a holistic patient-centered approach to achieve objectives and provide support to relatives/carers while supporting patients through their cancer journey.
  • Collaborate with the existing chemotherapy team and liaise with our wider cancer workforce to ensure high-quality services are provided to all patients.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RGN) qualification and NMC professional registration.
  • Competencies in the management of Central Venous Access Devices, including Hickman lines, PICCs, and implanted ports.
  • Desirable: Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Passport or equivalent training, Advanced Communication course or equivalent, and Mentorship qualification.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Organized and prioritizes workload.
  • Awareness and passion for working with patients affected by cancer.
  • Knowledge of extravasation and anaphylaxis, current issues in healthcare cancer care, Haematology, Oncology, and/or patients with cancer, side effects of anti-cancer therapy, chemotherapy/anti-cancer drugs, and managing infusion-related reactions and extravasation.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a cancer care setting or chemotherapy ward/department, or in an acute hospital setting.
  • Experience of understanding nursing processes, assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
