Job Summary

As a Strategic Development Manager in the Transport Strategy Directorate, you will play a key role in the development of a portfolio of transport schemes. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of projects that will help shape the future of transport in Greater Manchester.

You will be responsible for managing the early-stage development of medium or medium-to-large schemes, developing robust transport business cases, and ensuring that schemes are developed that best fit the requirements of Greater Manchester. You will work closely with stakeholders across the city-region, including politicians, local councils, and developers, to enhance placemaking and connectivity for Greater Manchester.

This is a career graded position with excellent learning and development opportunities, including progress towards professional accreditation and structured career path opportunities. You will be working in a dynamic and innovative team that is committed to delivering a joined-up London-style transport system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the early-stage development of medium or medium-to-large schemes
  • Develop robust transport business cases
  • Work closely with stakeholders to enhance placemaking and connectivity for Greater Manchester
  • Support the development of a portfolio of transport schemes

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Development Manager who has a background in scheme identification and development, particularly at the front end of the project life cycle. You will have a track record of building productive working relations with a variety of technical, non-technical, and public stakeholders. You will be educated to degree level and working towards a relevant professional qualification or have significant, highly relevant, equivalent experience.

What We Offer

This is a permanent position with a salary of £39,360 to £51,576 per annum, depending on skills and experience. We offer a range of fantastic benefits, including 28 days holiday per annum, flexible and hybrid working options, free bus travel within Greater Manchester, and a generous pension scheme.
