Primate Curator

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Curator - Primates to join our team at Twycross Zoo. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of our primate collection, including our great apes.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional leadership and management of the primate team, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare.
- Develop and implement effective animal management plans, ensuring the continued improvement of standards of animal care in line with best practice and zoo licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure the health and well-being of our primate animals, including preventative medicine programs and reactive care.
- Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure the upkeep of our primate enclosures and facilities.
- Represent the zoo on professional and scientific bodies, promoting our profile and reputation as a leading centre of animal management, research, and conservation.
- Minimum of a BSc (or equivalent experience) in an animal or conservation-related subject.
- Extensive specialist knowledge of modern practices for the keeping of a wide taxonomic range of primates in zoos, including great apes.
- Proven ability to manage large and complex teams, with a flexible and calm working style.
- High level of knowledge with regards to breeding program management and the wider role of modern zoos in species and habitat conservation.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and produce high-quality results in a timely manner.
- A competitive salary of £38,000.
